Antioch Indoor Invite Champs

For the first time in 2019, the track and field team competed with a full squad on Friday night.  The Sequoits came out of the gate strong as they won the 17 team invitational.  Highlights of the meet include the 4x200 relay of Dino Kaliakmanis, Ryan Shaputis, Mathias Madigan, and TreShawn Watson.  The relay placed 2nd overall, running 1:35.51 and ran the fastest indoor 4x200 time in over 10 years.  Watson wasn't done there as he also tied for 3rd in the 55HH and was the meet champion in the triple jump with a leap of 41'2".  Watson tied with teammate Dino Kaliakmanis in the 55HH, both running 8.37.  In addition to the 4x200 and 55HH, Kaliakmanis also placed in 55 meter dash (7th) and 200 meters (3rd) where he ran 23.57, a personal best.  The Sequoits scored big points in the shot put with Matt Becker and Chase Becker.  Chase placed 3rd overall with a heave of 48'11".  Matt was not only the meet champion, but set a meet record, throwing 52'8".  Tyler Oslage and Nico Fier led the way in the pole vault.  Oslage placed 1st, while Fier finished 5th, both clearing 12'6".  Charlie Smith ran a lifetime best in the 3200, running 9:36 winning by over 15 seconds.  Senior Drew Smith and Khalil Anderson had solid performances in the high jump as they placed 4th and 8th respectively.  The 4x400 relay of Ryan Shaputis, Sebastian Scofield, Josh Linck, and Ben Ticsay placed 6th overall to help secure the victory.  The Sequoits will be at Buffalo Grove on Saturday, March 2nd.
