Boys and Girls Qualify for IHSA Sectionals

Both the boys and girls accomplished their goal of qualifying for the IHSA sectional meet by placing 4th at the Lakes Regional.  The girls were lead by sophomore Sarah Benes who covered the 3 mile course in 18:52 and placed 5th earning all-regional.  Senior Natalie Svarc cracked the top 10 placing 10th and running 19:30.  Katie Amodeo ran a lifetime best of 20:13 to place 16th overall.  Senior Lily Highley ran her season best, running 21:13 to place 30th.  Julianna Gonzalez, Amber Carson, and Jasmine Ametovski rounded out the team helping the Sequoits qualify.  The boys also placed 4th punching their ticket to the IHSA sectional meet in Belvidere. Charlie Smith won his 2nd regional title in 3 years running 15:13 and nearly 30 seconds ahead of the 2nd pace finisher.  Lucas Baronello was once again the #2 runner, placing 16th and running 17:03.  Ryan Johnson and Walker Winkler were the next 2 Sequoits to cross the line in 30th and 31st overall.  Luke Menzies and Owen Lane were not far behind placing 40th and 41st with freshman Jacob Linck placing 47th overall.
