Sunday, August 27 2017 - Antioch QuadThe 1st meet of the 2017 is in the books. The Sequoits hosted Lakes, Richmond Burton and Carmel on Wednesday, August 23rd at Fox River Park. The girls ran the first race of the day and placed 3rd behind 1st place Carmel (27 points) and Lakes (33 points). The Sequoits defeated Richmond Burton by 4 points. The team was lead by junior Natalie Hill who placed 9th overall and ran 21:44. Hill was followed by sophomore Natalie Svarc (13th), junior Izzy Mateja (15th), senior Allison Morris (22nd), and rounding out the top 5 was freshman Chloe Hampson (23rd).
The boys paced 2nd overall with 39 points, 17 behind meet champion Lakes (22 points). Richmond Burton placed 3rd with 78 points and Carmel was 4th with 103 points. The Sequoits were lead by meet champion, Charlie Smith. The super sophomore ran neck and neck with Knauf of Lakes for 2 miles, but pulled away and won the meet by 20 seconds. The teams next 4 runners had a spread of only 32 seconds to lock up 2nd place as a team. Alex Besson (7th overall) was the 2nd Sequoit to cross the line in 18:09, followed by Eric Hart (9th), Sebby Scofield (10th), and Joe Sculuca (12th).
Next race for the Sequoits will be against Richmond Burton on Tuesday, August 29th.
