Boys Make it 2 in a Row

The boys track and field team won their second consecutive invitational by winning the Streamwood Invite on Saturday.  The boys beat runner up Morgan Park by 26 and 3rd place Schaumburg by 50.  The distance guys pulled their weight by winning the 4x800 relay (Andrew Hare, Max Barton, Charlie Smith and Mike Volkmar) in 8:50.  Sophomore Sebastian Scofield was the individual champ in the 800 running 2:04, while freshman Charlie Smith won the 1600 in 4:45.  The highlight of the meet had to be the 4x200 relay of Drew Porter, Javen London, Marc Gillespie and Robert Christiansen.  The relay team placed 2nd overall, but ran a very impressive 1:31.98.  Chase Becker and Matt Becker (no relation) continued to impress in the throws.  Chase won the discus, while placing 2nd in the shot put.  Matt placed 3rd in the shot and 5th in the discus.  The boys will go for 3 wins in a row at the Crystal Lake Central Invite on Friday, April 28th.
